Days following the tragic shooting of seven employees from a construction firm, the fourth terror attack occurred within a week.

In the Gulmarg sector of Kashmir, a terror attack near the Line of Control resulted in the tragic deaths of two soldiers and two civilian porters collaborating with the Army. Additionally, three soldiers sustained injuries during the assault.

Hours following the Unified Headquarters (UHQ) meeting led by Lt Governor Manoj Sinha in Srinagar to assess the security scenario post consecutive attacks in the previous week, the terror strike transpired. The session saw the presence of senior Army, police, paramilitary, and intelligence officials.

Sources reported that militants attacked an Army vehicle on Thursday evening near the Nagin post at Bota Pathri, approximately seven kilometers from the popular tourist destination of Gulmarg. Bota Pathri, situated near the Line of Control, has limited civilian access.

The military verified the occurrence of gunfire but mentioned that they are still in the process of confirming the specifics. Informants revealed the identities of the two carriers as Mushtaq Ahmad and Zahoor Ahmad, hailing from Boniyar in the Baramulla district of northern Kashmir.

The assault was denounced by J&K Chief Minister Omara Abdullah and former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti.

Omar expressed deep regret over the unfortunate incident involving an assault on army vehicles in the Bota Pathri region of north Kashmir, leading to casualties and injuries. The series of recent attacks in Kashmir is alarming. He strongly denounces this assault and extends heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased. He also hopes for a speedy and full recovery for the injured individuals.

Mufti expressed profound shock and sadness in response to the militant assault on an Army convoy in Baramulla. She unequivocally condemns the attack and offers prayers for the prompt recovery of the injured soldiers.

This marks the fourth instance of militant aggression in the Valley within the current week. It follows a tragic event that occurred just four days ago when terrorists struck an APCO Infratech camp at Gagangir, near Sonamarg tourist resort in Ganderbal district, claiming the lives of seven individuals, among whom was a respected local physician. These victims were integral members of a construction crew dedicated to the development of the crucial Z-Morh tunnel.

In the southern region of Kashmir’s Shopian district, militants claimed the life of a non-local worker on October 18 in Zainapora village. Additionally, in a separate incident on Thursday morning, militants targeted and wounded a teenage non-local worker in Batagund village of Tral, also located in south Kashmir.
