Terribly upsetting: Hansal Mehta addresses criticism of ‘The Buckingham…’ Hindi dub
In Short
- Hansal Mehta clarified the Hindi dubbing issue of The Buckingham Murders on Netflix. Many found the dubbing to be terribly executed.
- The filmmaker called it a technical glitch and not his decision.
- The Buckingham Murders stars Kareena Kapoor Khan in the lead role.
Filmmaker Hansal Mehta responded to an X user who expressed his disappointment with the terribly Hindi-dubbed version of The Buckingham Murders. Starring Kareena Kapoor Khan, the movie is currently streaming on Netflix.
The social media user addressed Hansal Mehta and Netflix on his X post and wrote, “Disappointed with #TheBuckinghamMurders Hindi dubbing. @NetflixIndia, @netflix pls release the original version! Authenticity matters. It’s painfully to watch the foreign actors speak Hindi #KareenaKapoorKhan @mehtahansal what were u thinking? Waiting for the Hinglish version (sic).”
To this, Mehta replied, “Do you think we did this? We have nothing to do with all this. This is a terrible tech mess up by @netflix. It is upsetting. They have assured us that they’re working on resolving it by later tonight (sic).”
He replied, “Please watch the Hindi (Original) version now. Due to a technical glitch this was not available earlier (sic).”
Mehta selected actors from the same region to preserve an authentic accent.
To ensure that a wider audience enjoyed the mystery thriller on the big screen, the filmmakers decided on a 50-50 strategy. While 50 per cent of the screens showed the Hindi and English versions, the other 50 per cent showed the Hindi version.
