India became the first T20I team to hit 200 sixes in a calendar year and the second team to record 100 away wins.
India won the third T20I against South Africa by 11 runs on November 13. Tilak Varma’s maiden T20I century helped India post 219/4, and they defended the target, restricting South Africa to 208/7.

- Indian batters smashed a total of 13 sixes in the third T20I, which helped the 2024 T20 World Cup winners become the first team in the world to hit 200 sixes in T20s in a calendar year.
- It helped Men in Blue create the record of scoring most 200+ scores in a calendar year. India surpassed seven 200+ scores each by the Birmingham Bears in 2022, India in 2023, and Japan in 2024.
- Tilak Varma scored a century for India in the third T20I, which helped Men in Blue become the third team in the world to score five individual centuries in a calendar year. Indian batters scored five individual centuries in 2023 as well, and during the 2016 edition of the IPL, RCB also scored five centuries.
Like in the second T20I, Jansen breached Samson’s defence and shattered his stumps.
Samson has failed to open his account in five T20Is in 2024. Zimbabwe’s Regis Chakabva was the first batter from a full-member side to score five ducks in a calendar year. He achieved the feat in 2022.
