Maharashtra polls: Akshay Kumar lauds booth, Farhan urges voting
Farhan Akhtar also spoke about the one change he wants in the film industry. Rajkummar Rao urged everyone to “step out and vote”.
The Maharashtra Assembly elections began on Wednesday, with celebrities voting at polling sites. Social media sites shared videos and photos of celebrities including Akshay Kumar, Farhan Akhtar, Zoya Akhtar, Rajkummar Rao, and Kabir Khan arriving at polling booths early in the morning.
Akshay casts his vote, interacts with media
Akshay exited the polling station talking to someone. Outside the polling booth, reporters asked him to expose his inked finger. The nicest part is the fantastic arrangements, stated Akshay. I noticed good senior planning. It is clean. Everyone should vote. That matters most.”
Akshay arrived early to vote, a reporter said. The actor laughed and mentioned that the reporter had arrived before him. A brief interaction with the actor was visible. In a black shirt and grey pants, Akshay went out.
Farhan talks about importance of voting
Farhan Akhtar urged everyone to vote. It is crucial. As citizens of this city, state, and country, we must participate in its story.People grumble about Mumbai and how it should be, but when asked if they voted, they answer, ‘No, I didn’t.’ Do not gripe. You have one chance to participate as a citizen. So you are responsible.”
Farhan’s one film industry change: “Increasing our screens is my priority right now. We are underscreened. I propose that the industry partner with the government to build more displays for content consumption.”
Rajkummar, Gautami cast votes
Rajkummar Rao voted early in the morning. He then told reporters, “Voting is crucial. Come out and vote, everyone. Voting day is crucial.” Wearing a beige T-shirt and black jeans.
Actor Gautami Kapoor voted and remarked, “I feel terrific. Voting is awesome. You feel free, and every vote matters, so everyone should vote. Please vote…It is crucial—we can alter the nation.”
About Maharashtra elections
The single-phase Maharashtra assembly elections began at 7 am. It ends at 6 pm. Voting is underway in 288 assembly constituencies. Mumbai has tightened security. Security has been enhanced to ensure a smooth election. The elections feature 4,136 candidates, including 2,086 independents.
BJP contests 149 seats, Shiv Sena 81, and NCP 59. Congress has 101 candidates, Shiv Sena (UBT) 95, and NCP (Sharad Pawar faction) 86. The BSP and several smaller parties are running for 237 seats. About 9.7 crore people are registered to vote in the state.
