In 2024, the BSE and NSE revealed a unique one-hour trading event called ‘Muhurat Trading,’ synchronized with the celebration of Diwali.

On November 1, 2024, the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE) revealed plans for a unique one-hour trading event called ‘Muhurat Trading’ to coincide with the Diwali festival celebration.

At what time is the Muhurat Trading session set to commence?

The Muhurat Trading session, marking the beginning of the new Samvat 2081 as per exchange circulars, will take place from 6 pm to 7 pm.

The standard trading session will be closed for Diwali, with only a one-hour Muhurat Trading session scheduled for the evening.

Trading during the Muhurat session commences at 5.45 pm and concludes at 6.00 pm.

During the Muhurat Trading session, various market segments such as equity, commodity derivatives, currency derivatives, equity futures & options (F&O), securities lending & borrowing (SLB), and more are active and available for trading, all condensed within a one-hour timeframe.
