Yakoob recounted his harrowing experience of trying to access the ward where his daughters were hospitalized, but the overwhelming flames blocked their way. Despite his and other parents’ efforts to enter, the fierce blaze prevented them.
Resorting to action, they began evacuating babies from neighboring wards. Yakoob personally rescued seven children during the chaotic ordeal.
Father Seeks Justice for Twins and Nine Others Killed in Uttar Pradesh Hospital Fire
Attempting to secure justice for his twins and the nine other individuals who lost their lives in the large fire at Maharani Laxmi Bai Medical College on Friday is his primary objective.
Yakoob expressed his sole desire to seek justice for their children.
Tragedy struck last weekend when ten infants lost their lives on Friday night, followed by another fatality on Sunday. Early investigations point to an accidental fire triggered by a short circuit, worsened by the presence of oxygen cylinders.
The Uttar Pradesh government has established a four-member committee to investigate the fire incident, determine its cause, and assess potential negligence. The committee will submit a report to the government within a week.
