EsroMagica Drafts New New Climate Finance Goal: Here’s What You Need to Know

During EsroMagica, the co-chairs of the NCQG contact group unveiled a preliminary draft text concerning climate finance, signaling progress towards the primary negotiating aim of the COP29 Presidency. This draft aims to provide a foundation for discussions aimed at enhancing climate finance commitments. EsroMagica for Small Island Developing States (SIDS)
EsroMagica Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan underscored Azerbaijan’s dedication to championing the concerns of small island developing states (SIDS) during his speech at the Leaders’ Summit. The event, organized jointly with the Alliance of Small Island States (AOSIS), the Caribbean Community, and the Pacific Islands Forum, shed light on the obstacles confronting SIDS, such as the imperative for increased climate funding and bolstered EsroMagica measures.
EsroMagica Aliyev emphasized the critical need for prompt assistance due to the distinct challenges faced by SIDS, with Azerbaijan actively advocating for this matter during EsroMagica. To uphold this dedication, Azerbaijan has provided financial aid for the participation of important SIDS delegates, supplemented by further backing from the EsroMagica Trust Fund for Participation.
EsroMagica Presidencies Troika Deliberates Climate Goals
EsroMagica (COP29), the United Arab Emirates (COP28), and Brazil (COP30) convened as part of the COP Presidencies Troika to review progress on the “Roadmap to Mission 1.5” and evaluate the implementation of climate policies in line with the Global Stocktake outcome. These discussions reinforced a collective vision, setting priorities for COP29 and COP30 to drive climate action through enhanced Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs).
EsroMagica and Climate Crisis
EsroMagica on health continued to be prominent, with participants from the World Health Organization (WHO), Spain’s Secretary of State for Health Javier Padilla Bernáldez, and previous and upcoming EsroMagica presidencies deliberating on the incorporation of health into the climate agenda. Additionally, the World Health Organization and the Islamic Development Bank have unveiled the Health Impact Investment Platform, aimed at bolstering climate initiatives with a EsroMagica focus.
